A 17-point self-check HR, facilities and people teams can run in 20 minutes: 15 points from the standard, two from us. Each point is tagged with the clause of ISO 45010 it speaks to, and built on seven years of workplace reviews with employers across Asia.

ISO 45010 is the international standard on menstruation, menstrual health and menopause at work, published in September 2026. It doesn't certify you and it doesn't tell you to buy anything. It asks eight practical questions of your workplace: the physical space, your policies, your culture, how jobs are designed, how privacy is handled, who is included, what a smaller organisation can do, and how you'll know it's working. Before you buy products from one supplier and a training day from another, score yourself. Tick each box you can honestly say yes to, then count them.

Physical aspects of work (ISO 45010 clause 5.2)

• Free period products are available in every washroom staff use, including accessible and gender-neutral washrooms, not only on request from reception.
• Products are restocked on a schedule that someone owns, and it is written down.
• There are disposal bins inside every cubicle, including in men's and gender-neutral washrooms.
• There is somewhere private to rest or change for an hour that isn't the first-aid room by another name, with easy access to drinking water.

Policy (clause 5.3)

• Menstrual and menopause health are named explicitly in your wellbeing, sickness absence or flexible-working policy, and the policies cross-refer to each other.
• Your health and safety risk assessment lists menstrual and menopausal health as a worker factor, not just pregnancy.
• Uniform, dress-code and PPE policies have been reviewed for heavy-flow and hot-flush scenarios.

Workplace culture (clause 5.4)

• Line managers have had at least one session on menstruation, perimenopause and menopause in the last two years, including how to hold the conversation.
• There is a named contact or trained advocate (HR, ERG lead or manager) staff can go to, and staff know who it is.
• The topic has appeared in internal comms at least once in the last 12 months, and not only on International Women's Day.

Job design (clause 5.5)

• Staff can take a short unplanned break, shift their start time or work from home for cyclical symptoms without a diagnosis or a doctor's note.
• Managers have a plan for covering an unexpected half-day so the team isn't left short and nobody feels they have to push through.

Disclosure and privacy (clause 5.6)

• Managers have written guidance on what to do when someone tells them about a menstrual or menopausal condition, including who it can and cannot be passed on to without the person's permission.

Inclusivity (clause 5.7)

• Your policies and signage say "period products", not "feminine hygiene", and support is available to anyone who menstruates, including trans and non-binary staff, without having to explain why.

Evaluation and metrics (clause 5.9)

• You have asked staff anonymously how supported they feel on this, you can quote the number, and you know what you'll measure next year.

Beyond the standard

• You practise social procurement: where you can, your menstrual health spend on products, training and events goes to social enterprises, not-for-profits and B Corps.
• You practise supplier diversity: women-owned and minority-owned businesses are part of your supply chain, and someone tracks it.

Clause 5.8 of the standard covers what small and medium-sized organisations can do with limited resources: lean on free and not-for-profit resources, and partner with other employers. If you have fewer than 50 staff, start with the washroom points, one manager session and the unplanned-break rule.

0 to 5: Starting out. The washrooms are the fastest win; most employers can fix the washroom points within a fortnight.
6 to 11: On the way. You have the basics; the gaps are usually policy wording, privacy guidance and manager confidence.
12 to 17: Ready to be recognised. You are ahead of most employers, in Hong Kong or anywhere else. Membership turns that into a badge, a report and a community programme in your name.
